(So)ul Supreme - “Coffee Shop Love” (Inspired by Dumbfoundead’s “Different Galaxies”)
He listens hip hop on the radio, what you call mainstream.
Wears Nikes, Vans, and Supras and shirts from Supreme,
hats from Stussy, The Hundreds and Crooks.
Street smart but never the one to read books.
Met a lady at a coffee shop, listening to underground hip hop.
Found out she loved jazz, and buys clothes from thrift shops
She doesn’t follow the “hype” because originality is the key.
High heels, scarves, and fedoras are her cup of tea.
Her style was eclectic, urban but very appealing.
He couldn’t ignore her aura so his heart rose to the ceiling.
While he was shy, she was quite the talkative one.
These strangers began to feel comfortable like their love has just begun.
She told him she lived in suburbs of L.A. and takes the bus around cities.
He resides in the downtown area, and owns an E Class Mercerdes.
Something about her, made his mind wonder…”Could this be love?”
Felt like he was on cloud 9, maybe that’s why he flew high above.
He tried to remain bold, but butterflies filled his tummy.
Tried to talk, but all he did was stutter, so she called him a dummy.
Regardless, they had a good time and left until the coffee shop was deserted.
He began to look her into her eyes, but her attention was diverted.
Frowning, she didn’t want the night to end, but he told her, “We’ll meet again”
Wrote his number on her hand, and said, “This is just the start…
I don’t think I can ever leave your presence, so how can we part?”
She said, “Don’t worry, we’ll meet here tomorrow, just you and I…
But I have to go now, the bus is about to leave soon…so goodbye.”
She gave him a kiss on the cheek and waved, but he grabbed her hand,
“Wait, I’ll take you home……but first and foremost can I be your man?”
Different minds, separate souls, but somehow they complement one another.
Both from different galaxies, yet love brought them together.
