Valentine’s Day

I feel like people waste their time bitching about this holiday. Either for the fact they’re an angry single, or simply because they persistently protest, “You should love your significant other all 365 days of the year.”

First of all, alright, we get it. You’re single, there’s nothing wrong with that. If it wasn’t a problem before, it shouldn’t be one now. And if it was a problem before? Don’t lash out on happy couples simply because you want to spread your misery. Accept your single and just enjoy it. And for the “365-person”, we get it too. Look, there’s nothing wrong with having a day to express your love for someone. ‘Cause honestly, there are days where we could’ve been better boyfriends/girlfriends. There were days where we were too busy to even see that person because of work, distance, or other circumstances. There were days we could’ve been much more appreciative of the shit they’ve done for us. So why can’t you take a day out of the year just to tell that special someone that we love them? Even if you still think the concept is stupid, it’s extremely bitter to publicize your pettiness. At the very least, have some respect for the people who do enjoy the holiday. Also, it’s kind of none of your concern how people assess their relationships. How does that even affect you? ‘Cause I don’t see how it would, unless the person you’re insulting happens to be yourself. My point is, stop being miserable. Take this opportunity to tell someone you love them, regardless if you’re dating. Because at some point in the year, you’ve made an individual feel neglected. And for all the single people, don’t be upset. Don’t let a holiday dictate your loneliness.
